Stopkleppen zijn gesloten door een rubberen pakking op een stoel in het midden van de klep te schroeven. PROS gebruikt alleen kleine versies die fungeren als afsluitkleppen voor armaturen zoals gootstenen en toiletten en sillcocks buiten. Flow is inefficiënt vanwege de schattige route de vloeistof (water, in de meeste gevallen) moet volgen. Het is belangrijk om de klep in de rechterrichting te oriënteren met de pijl (in de zijkant van de klep gegoten) uitgelijnd met stroomrichting. Op die manier stroomt water tegen de bodem van de rubberen pakking. Als de klep achteruit is, dwingt de stroom de pakking weg van de bovenkant van de klep .
